#17 Using Emotion To Influence Decisions with Lee Odden

Using Emotion To Influence Decisions with Lee OddenIn this episode of Getting Goosebumps: The Power of Storytelling, I chat to CEO of Top Rank Marketing, Lee Odden. As author of Optimize and sought after public speaker, he had an array of strong points to share and some really valuable insight.

Emotion influences decisions

Lee shares some insight on how to push people along the consideration phase a little faster by creating an emotional and intellectual connection.

We explore the importance of emotion for persuading your customers. As Lee points out, people make decisions based on emotion, so we need to shift our focus to this and develop a strategy to tackle it head on.

The mom test

We chat about the power of video for provoking emotion from your audience and Lee reveals the power of ‘the mom test’! He also reveals his thoughts on which type of videos resonate with customers and make them feel as though your brand connects with their everyday lives.

So, there’s a lot of useful advice here to take on board for future projects…

Understanding the mind of your audience

Lee gives some awesome advice on how to really understand the mind of your customers, which will significantly help you out in the long-term.

We also spend some time thinking about the different questions you should be considering before telling a story and creating content from scratch. After all, you’re never too old to do your homework…there’s a lot of value to gain by making sure you have a strong sense of who your audience are and what they want and need!

Do you agree with what Lee has to say? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
