#16 The Most Compelling Story with Scott Stratten

The Most Compelling Story with Scott StrattenIn this episode of Getting Goosebumps: The Power of Storytelling, I had the awesome opportunity to chat to the president of Un-Marketing, professional storyteller and one of the top Twitter influencers in the world… Scott Stratten! With his own business podcast series and four best-selling business books, including his latest: “Unselling: The New Customer Experience”, it’s safe to say that Scott knows his stuff when it comes to connecting with an audience.

The most compelling story

In the digital world, there are so many methods to pick from when we’re approaching storytelling…but which one is the most compelling? Scott sheds some light on the answer to this and gives us some invaluable insight into why sometimes, taking a back seat and letting other people talk instead is the most effective solution you’ll find.

The link between content and stories

We also identify the differences between our stories and our content… Is the purpose of content to spark off conversations and stories? Knowing how to separate the two can help us to effectively link them together, and as a storytelling expert, it goes without saying that Scott’s successfully mastered the structuring behind it!

Storytelling can’t be forced

We also talk about one of the biggest storytelling mistakes as Scott reveals why he believes storytelling simply can’t be forced. It all comes down to being good at what you do. In his opinion, if you know you’re good at what you do, you should be telling everyone…and if you’re GREAT at what you do, other people will tell everybody else for you!

So plug your headphones in and find out how to become the best storyteller you can be…

Do you agree with what Scott has to say? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
